Relay event in Lakes open to all MFR members, plus other off-Island races

Sunday 2nd Oct 2016 - Hodgson Brothers relays ( this event is on a Sunday, it is 8 days after the Ultra, and travel back to the Island may be on Monday)

MFR have agreed to pay the entry fees, and subsidise travel and accommodation costs to enter an 8 person team for this prestigious event starting at Patterdale, in the Lakes . The intention would be to hire a camping barn or camp at Sykeside campsite near the event start.

It consists of 4 legs, each comprising a good AM fell race mostly unmarked, roughly similar in distance to the navigation leg of the British relays (except the routes remain the same and are known in advance).

It is open to all runners regardless of ability, who will be paired with another runner of a similar ability. Although a popular event, runners should not rely on following other competitiors and be confident of navigating in low visibilty, and/or willing to recce their leg in advance.

There is a video giving a flavour of the event here, the mass start of the first leg shows how many teams enter this event.

Please contact one of the MFR Committee at Laxey or Carraghan race to express an interest, a decision will be taken in June about entering a team, and a deposit will be payable.

Saturday May 7th Up the Nab. English Championship event, entries need to be submitted asap.

Saturday 4th June - Welsh 1000s. Not for the faint hearted! Four routes to choose from. Further details here: http://www.welsh1000m.org/
